Laura is an exceptional Club member. Laura umpires regularly for the Club, supports umpires, plays and manages. She has three daughters who all play in different teams (Frogs, Chipmunks and Kittyhawks), plays herself (HereifYouNeed) and also umpires.
Since her girls started playing, Laura has also helped out by assistant coaching and managing at least one of their teams. This year in particular, Laura has taken on so many different roles around the club. She helped with junior grading, which was her first time being involved in selections, supported our junior umpires, helped umpire our men’s team and also took on senior umpiring. She was also a part of the committee to introduce a new Club uniform, and was actively involved from the beginning until the very end. She has been willing to step into whatever role is needed and has never been someone who needs to be asked twice.
One of the things that stands out about Laura is how reliable she is. If something needs to be done, you know you can ask Laura and she will do her best to help. She is someone who can be called on at short notice and will happily step in when others may not be able to. She gives up a huge amount time to support the Club.
When asked about how she felt winning this award, Laura said - "Very humbled, very privileged, and very seen, which is very lovely." When asked her hopes for WNC in the future- "I hope [WNC] continues to be a really inviting place for kids and adults to come together and find their team and their people and just have a lot of fun together and keep supporting each other."
Congratulations Laura on your well deserved award!
